“The Fresh Air Fund was created to allow children living in disadvantaged
communities to get away from hot, noisy city streets and enjoy free summer
experiences in the country.“

What the Fresh Air Fund tries to do, is to give inner city kids a fresh perspective and a different point of view then what they are used to.

People who are raised in one area and don't leave much or people who are heavily restricted or cloistered or kids who aren't given many books or magazines or who aren't exposed to many things tend to have a very narrow viewpoint about life, possibilities, job aspirations and adventures....

This chapter is going to give you a lot of things to ponder and peruse about opportunities that are available to US ALL, that you might not know about, so maybe your horizons will be expanded...

I wrote this chapter because my mother KNEW I LOVED Japan and Japanese Culture, Etiquette and Food! LOVED IT! I am a HUGE Japanophile. Not one thing was done to further my interest or love of Japan...She never even looked into anything. I was never made aware of any possibilities like the fact that I could go to school in Japan or marry a Japanese man and move there or go Youth Hostelling in Japan OR ANYTHING. I LOVED electronics and working with my hands as a child...Never did she steer me into any Vo-Tech for electronics or towards any kind of hobbies along those lines... I want YOU to be happy and fulfilled, so Im letting you know about the MYRIAD of things available to you!
